Actually they have not pased the bill yet to take your car. they are working on that. They can impound it currently. As for spectating tickets, well that is crap. I know they give them, but there is not a law against it. I got one, and had a lawyer take it to court. Judge stated it was against out constitutaional rights., and the law does not state it either. They will never stop street racing.

I thought i heard this mornging that Jeb just signed the bill for that. Street racing in something that will not stop i know but something i don't do.

New law aims to curb street racing
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Racing on public streets could cost drivers their cars under a new law signed Tuesday by Gov. Jeb Bush.
The measure (HB 71) gives police the authority to seize the cars of owners who commit repeat offenses within five years.
Racing side-by-side or speeding alone around a set course becomes a first-degree misdemeanor under the new law, which takes effect in October. Offenders can be punished by a year in jail and fined $1,000, up from 60 days in jail with a $500 fine

yea first of all i know of several ppl who got caught street racing and one of them got their car impounded not taken completely away. but i agree with john no matter how hard they try they can't stop street racing unless you take away cars for everbody but even then it will go back to racing on bikes down the sidewalk lol. its natural for ppl mainly guys to want to go fast and disobey the law. i think they easiest way to settle this is to rope off some roads in the back alleys and stuff in downtown orlando someplace away from ppl and important buildings where kids can race and be only responsible for themselves. but hey thats just me

I agree with you on that. The thing is these laws are aimed more towards kids racing down busy roads from red light to red light.
If you know anything about real street racing, that is done right (I'm not saying it is safe, legal etc, just stating) it is usually never seen, or bothers anyone. Granted racing on the street anywhere is not legal, or the best thing, but I still do it from time to time, we all do to a point.
Before people start saying I have never done it, by the true law of racing, you can not break the speed limit and still be racing, getting on it from a stop sign, and I know we have done that.

I agree we have done it at some point. No one can say they have not done some sort of street race. I guess 98% of the time i have my baby girl with me and when i see someone racing next to me or near me just pisses me off because i have a minor in the car. That is why next year i will be rolling a minivan

Well, that all depends. If you're racing on private property without permission, you can be ticketed AND imprisoned for tresspassing.

i agree things have changed. Yes it will keep some people from doing it. never said it will not. For the people who race for money, it will not stop them. For the hardcore guys they will not stop. there is risks with everything you do, just have to dicide if it is worth it.

Sadly you know how things go jason remember dennys people would just hang out then a bunch of those stupid @!#$ would bring their @!#$ boxes in and think they where bad ass cause they could spin tires your always gonna have idiots running around and they ruin it for the rest of the people, think of this how many people bought srt'4 just cause they had a turbo i imagine most people couldn't drive stick that did buy them and everyone who did buy them thought that they where instantly a street racer cause they had a turbo allthought i do agree we need more places to race rather then then when it's convient for the race track to be open ,half the time it gets washed out anyways

To a point they did. I think they speeded up the process, that would have happened anyways.

all this going to do is boom the perfrmance market, bc people are just spend more money to go faster and faster to not get caught the next time...
actually they dont even have to take you to jail, thats up to the officer...bc supposedly i was "street racing" some honda that decided to spin his tires at the line, he was an illegal mexican so he got arrested and they arrested my bc they arrested him but i was in county jail for 8 hours and i got off with 24 hours community service and an aggressive driving course...cops in winter springs are gay
oh and i love lawyers too...
Deputy D Style(D Style Cavy) wrote:.cops in winter springs are gay
Normally, I would say that's a bit harsh...but because of what recently happenned to my brother, I'll agree to an extent that Winter Sprins officers sometimes go a little out of the way to hassle people.
My brother lives in the Tuskawilla development. The other night, him and 2 of his roommates were having a party. Well, it was about 1am and they needed to make another beer run, but none of them were sober. So they decided to walk down to the 7-11 to buy a couple of cases. Well, they got about half-way there when an officer on one of those scooter-bike things stopped them. After explaining that they were having a party and the only reason they were all walking was because they didn't want to drive drunk (a perfectly sensible thought in my opinion).
Then the cop called for backup, and 2 police cars show up. After questioning each of them seperately, they fingerprint them all and tell them to go home. When one of them asked why they were being fingerprinted, the officer said it was so they would have a point of reference if any houses along their way home got broken into.
Seems kind of strange that 3 drunk guys with no criminal backgrounds in their mid 20's wearing shorts and t-shirts, carrying all their identification, walking on foot, and carrying no weapons would go around breaking into houses...but hey, what do I know?

Well actually i have had a run-in with the cops according to the street racing thing and this is it.
-lose license
-1 year probation
-lots of fines ranging from 500-2000
but also i was talking to the state trooper and he said they define street racing as going from point a to b in the least amount of time, meaning and i quote "A pre-arrange agreement to race another vehicle" so if you happen to come across someone and race him dont worry you will only get reckless driving like me

I say if you street race, you probably deserve to get dickslapped. Sure there are "conditions", but try explaining conditions after you or the person you raced just lost control of their car and killed some people minding their own business.
