Ok I have a 1996 pontiac sunfire convertible ..... For the last 3 days my check engine and ETS light came on ... It has happened before but it went through all the gears .... Just the lights popped on ....Now the lights are on and the gears aren't shifting ....I have an automatic ..... What is the odds of having to get a new transmission ....Would it be a good idea or bad idea .... Considering that the car has 165,000 miles on it and the transmission is factory ..... Could anyone possibly know the problem and a solution ? Anyone ever heard of the problem before ? .... sounds like a bad shift module but i dont mess with the automatics to much so dont hold me to it.
