Just wanted to view interest on hitting the N. GA Mtn's sunday morning and next sunday morning(10/1)! I figure it's close to the last time most people can get out since fall/winter is upon us.
Meeting Where: Home Depot off of GA-400 about 25-35miles north of 285! When you come up to a huge outside outlet mall it should be right across the street on the righthand side.
When: 9:30-10am on 9/24 and/or 10/1
So here's some google earth images of some of the roads I'm thinking about hitting!
This shows like the entire area of where we would be with Helen,GA being the small blip of the right bottom area of the screen with a square around it!
We would come up 19 and hit a left on 129/11 and head up the mountain! We'll stop and snap pics at this rest lodge area for 30min or so and let the cars cool off, then head east then back south on hwy 348 which (with a few turns) will take us into Helen where we'll grab lunch @ Wendy's! Head back up 348 and stop at the Mtn view or just keep riding through and instead of hitting 129/11 again early, we'll jump on hwy 180 (which is by far one of the craziest and tightest roads i've ever been on in GA).

180 will bring us back down to 60 which will take us out of the area and back down GA-400 to Atlanta.
I guess we would meet at the Home Depot parking lot in the back like usual and roll out from there! You can come filled or get gas at the next light from the Home Depot!

So you can mapquest any of those roads and see if there's a faster route for you if you live in N. GA already (gainesville, gwinnett, etc etc).
The only problem with it being this weekend would probably be the weather. On the last run I did I swear the weather forecast was the exact same and it turned out nice as hell up there! Here's weather.com's 10day outlook.
Like I said, the forecast was the exact same when we went up awhile ago but it turned out nice! If you don't trust it I see no problem in doing it the next weekend? Up for debate I guess!

sounds like you've done you research. those are some of the best roads for sure. i hope i have my springs by then. i was hopping to do a mod day meet as well maybe we can make this an all day thing since my shop is about 3 miles from that home depot. i'll talk to my parents to see if it's cool to have a cookout that evening and we work on the cars.

Just so everyone knows, this is more of a Import atlanta thing as of now so there will be a couple or alot of imports with us if you choose to go! As a warning the run will NOT be a cruise and it gets pretty dangerous up there! Send me a PM if ya wanna go!

Last time I saw you and Sam talking about it on SV I started getting the impression all you needed was a 12mm socket. Anyway I'll try to mail you about a two inch piece for you to use with a socket and ratchet/breaker bar.

There will be your slower cars (which will be easy as hell to weed out after a couple miles) and people shall advance forward as neccesary. It all ends up working good and everyone knowing where they need to be.
