When the motor rubbed a hole in my brake line, a family friend got some kind of pipe connector. He cut the hole out and joined it back together with no problems. Was a temporary fix that lasted, and i'm sure is still on the car even now.

Which line is it? There is 2 in the picture, is it the upper one, or lower one? The upper lookes like it has a plastice sealed connection to the rack, where the lower looks to be a removable type.

quik fix you could split a small piece of fuel hose and wrap it around the pipe . then clmap it on both ends ?? cost you about 3 bucks .
if you arent spraying your just playing !!!
one of the techs @ work said you should be able to depending if ut can get it off . all it does is help the pressure go from one side to another when the boot is compressed... from what he tells meh... GL
