How is a LD9 cheaper than a Ecotec swap? Don't get me wrong I love the LD9's.

I know what is envovled in a Ecotec swap into a pre 2000. I have done a few of them. I also know you can get a whole donor car for $600-$1000 which has everything you need. It is not hard work, just swapping everything over. You might have to weld one mount for the tranny.

I also know getting a good 2.4 is going to cost you around $850-$1000, plus you need a tranny, axles, plus a wiring harness and ECU. Radiator is different between a 2.4 and 2.2. A/C compressor is different, Alternator is different. SO looks like the Ecotec would be cheaper, but a little more work.

For a swap you would need a donor car. Best place is 1 junkyard or insurance auction. I know there is a place in Orlando that does insurance auctions. We picked up the first car we ever did from there. just do not remember exactly where it is.

he's prolly got the junk Isuzu tranny..

dammit Mike, dont be a punk-ass... find an LD9 donor and go to war or like John said, finding an entire Ecotec car would be a good route if it hasnt been raped. the hard part is getting the rear tranny mount welded in (about 4 in. back if its a stick... autos are way different)
