Forgive my ignorance on the technical name, but do you mean a prop rod instead of the hydraulic hood prop? If that's the case, couldn't you just cut a piece of wood (I used to have a perfect pice of wood for this purpose when my hydraulic failed on me and I didn't feel like buying yet another one back in the day.
Ya I mean the prop rod. The one that mounts to the fender and attaches near the hood hinge

well at least I got something right this weekend...
i'd just go with the wood or remove the hood.
