could a plugged catalytic cause bogging when just getting going, or if the trottle is opened too wide quickly before engine is above 2000 rpm.
the exhaust sprung a leak right in front of the cat, which makes me a lilltle suspicous..
i recomend replacing the cat if its the original cat. I just replaced mine and i've noticed a power increase. BUT i used a high volume cat. so i have less back pressure, and more air can escape.
...
I have the same problem!!! Could you please let me know what the fix for this is?
I don't have the money for a new CAT right now and I don't know if my car is OBD-1 or OBD-2. It's a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0 with A/C.
Thank you.

and if you need to for the time being just hollow it out inside. exhaust will smell and you'll lose a lil bit of your gas milage. might also wanna check your IAT "intake air temprature" sensor. as these are common failures on these cars. I changed mine and it doesnt bog like it used to.

I already changed the IAT twice. The car still boggs and won't go faster than 45 mph with the pedal to the floor.
I'm so screwed.
I got a fuel pressure regulator out of a 2nd gen cavalier and I'm going to try to put that in the car today and see if it fixes the problem. It looks just like the one in my car so I'm guessing that it fits.

deff sounds a plugged cat converter. I would try hollowing it out for now. that should help out some.

Welp, I did what you said and and the injectors and timing checked out fine at the shop.
Fuel pressure is fine as well. Compression testing showed even numbers across the cylinders as well (YAY!!)
The problem however was....
A clogged Catalytic Converter.
They want over 1000 dollars for a CAT-Back system for my Sunbird so I'm looking at just hollowing out the bastard CAT.
Thanks,

How do you go about hollowing out the CAT?
I would do it but I don't know exactly how.
