cavalier in distressHELP PLEASE!

ok guys heres the problem,my car is miossing bad at idle and through the whole rpm range when i'm driving, i have very little power as if i were driving on 3 cylinders. when i come to a stop light it gets real bad as if it were to stall but it don't stall. i'm not loosing too much gas mileage and the temp still stays normal. anyone know what could be the cause of this? my guess are coil packs/ICM, fuel filter/injector or the dreaded head gasket, which is what i really think it is, because my thermostat went about 3 weeks ago and the car ran pretty hot but i immediately pulled over before it started smoking abd i installed a new thermostat the next day. anyone have an idea of whats causing my poor car to run like sh!t? thanx in advance. 1991 cavy 2.2 auto

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

Could be any part of the ignition or the exhaust could be plugged. when ICM went on my 2.0 the car ran terrible and was blowing raw gas out of the exhaust pipe.

When the ICM goes does it throw a code?

my boyfriend (cadwz24) has an 03 cavy and his was missing. apparently he was told to pour water into the cylinders while keeping it running (or something along those line). its supposed to help break up the carbon build up in there that could cause it to miss. you should probably ask/email him about it because im not 100% sure. he hasnt had an problems since then, though.
