Ok, I have a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird GT Convertible. Turbo 4 cyl auto trans if it matters... After fixing the front exterior lighting harness (damn rodents didn't leave it alone) I think I might have generated a problem. The rest of the system seems to work normally. The problem... When you switch the fog lamps on, it automatically turns on the parking lamps even without the key. Is this normal? I thought that the fog lamps will only come on if you at least switch the parking lights on. I also thought that the fog lamps will not turn on unless the key is in the run position. At least this is how it in on my 2000 Grand AM. I haven't used the car much really, and it might just be me second guessing myself.
Shorter Version: Should turning the fog lamp switch on make the fog lamps and parking lamps come on even if the ignition switch and parking lamp switch are in the off position? Thanks all!
I don't know if its supposed to act that way or not, but it shouldn't be hard to disable it, just look for the brown parking light wire connecting to the fog light switch somewhere.
yep its normal, also your fog lights won't work when you turn on your high beams

It's normal? Cool, I just wanted to make sure that it was normal and that I didn't screw it up. Unfortunately, She just developed a lower end knock... I guess it's time to see exactly how much I love her... You guess it! Time to overhaul the engine! I love her... =)
even if you don't love her love that engine that's a fun little car
