I just got a 94 2door cavi from my girfriends sister. she forgot to mention that the key she gave me only works in the ignition. well when she handed me the key i saw GM so I figured it worked for everything. well i get it home and lock the doors now im locked out. can any body tell me how i can pop the lock on this damn car. i worked for an hour with a coat hanger and have basically given up. and i dont wanna call pop-a-loc unless i have to.
THNX in advance

If you can't get the lock to pop with the hanger, it'll be tough. Do you have fold down rear seats, and does the key work in the trunk? If so, and if so, you may be able to get in that way. Also, what does your local PD do in a case like that? Some places hand you a hammer, other's will help out. You're best bet, will probably be calling a garage or someplace that can come jimmy the lock for you. Good luck!
Btw, I have a universal unlock kit here (slimjims and stuff) I can sell cheap lol. jk.
try puting the coat hanger between the window and the door by the lock. there are rods that attach to the lock cylinder and if you can hook those you will be able to unlock the door.
this happened to me when I had a Phase 2 Cavvy, I called AAA, all they do is pry the door a little bit from the car, drive a wedge shaped object in there, and then use some tool to pop the lock. I'm sure u could cut a wedge out of wood and use that, and use a coat hanger to pop the lock. This is all I got, other than calling AAA, or a towing company.
the keys for the door and trunk are different from the ignition key.
Evan has the right idea thats how i had to get into mine once, and it does take some patience. right near the lock there is a ___/---- wire once you find that i think you move forward to the lever, been awhile since i did it myself.
if you wanna go for the inner knob you need a really small hook like maybe an inch or less, make a L handle on the end of a coat hanger. work you way to the knob from the angled part of the door (near the windshield), you need to put the hook inside the lever and then twist it to pop out the little lever. thats the way i was the guy do it when i still had roadside assistance.
now if you wanna get in quickly, grab a cold beer pop the tab and down it as quickly as you can, then find a big rock, brick or my favorite a stock tire iron
smash that puppy. have good laugh, grab another beer, and vacuum out the glass and go get a piece of used glass. i would call around and find out whats available and the cost so you can get the cheapest window
good luck man
Just call a lock smith.. when i got my 94 cav i didn't have any door keys, a lock smith came out and made me a set of keys for $10, he used the vin number to cut the keys, it was crazy. He cut them without even touching the car, and they worked the first try. took him like 5 minutes.
well guys thanx for all of the advise. the local garage came out and popped it with his slim jim. the guy didnt even charge me. he said since he only had to drive 300 ft he didnt mind. ill call the lock smith and see if they can do it. ooh also if the lock smith cant do it can the dealer??
You may need the key "knockouts" to get a set from the dealer, they're the little pieces of metal that pop out to form the hole for the key ring, they have the code the dealer needs to get you your keys

They can get the same info from the vin#. They probably just have to put in a call to gm.

Most towing companies will lock you out for about $40 within literally 6 seconds lol
