my roommate has a 92 z24 with a 5 speed manual tranny
and just today it wont rev past 2grand and it has no power at all
i cant even get it out of 2nd gear
this is his daily driver and only means of transpertation ......so we need to get this running fast any help is greatly app.!!!!!!!!

only thing i can think of off the top of my head is maybe distributor or dis if it has that

but not hopeing coil packs are 60$ a pop and he needs 3


what about the throtle pos sensor or the air bypass valve (if it has one im not shure if it does)

i also thought about changing the o2 sensor and the iat sensor but i wouldnt think that those would cause that

also it was using a ton of fuel just befor this
oh and theyr is no smell from the exhaust pipe to sujest the cat being cloged

if it will idle its not the throttle body position sensor. a clogged cat wouldn't help any thing. my suggestion is to remove one plug-wire at a time with the car on and see if the engine sounds worse if you pull one and the engine dosent sound any different then you know that, that coil is bad hope this helps.

but if pulling a plug wire off dosnt change then that means that cylender isnt firing
and if its missing it would idle rough
and it doesnt
is this corect???

some times it will only idle rough when you excelerate but then again i havent hurd the car so i cant say anything 100%

oh and the spark plugs are kinda hard to get to is theyr another way of checking the coils

you could try to unplug them from the coil pack them self but if i'm correct theres one plug for two plug wires so it would be harder to pin point but, like i said thats the only thing i can think of off the top of my head. i mean just remember a car needs air in/out, fuel and spark to run right and some times its just a process of elimination to figure out which one is out of wack.

naa. from the symptoms, I'm guessing its either a clogged fuel filter or a clogged cat.

we havent had any smell like its the cat but its poss and well try the filter
but it does it only after it warms up so that makes me think its the coil
but any other ideas are app well its off to work on the car agen
