Hey guys...I was wondering exactly what a J2000 is. I think it was a bottom of the line sunbird, but that all I know. A guy I work with saw my car and said he used to have one... he said it was a J2000 (I've got a sunbird) and he kept going on about how crappy it was as if he was trying to tick me off. Then I told him I'de race is Buick LeSabre and he started to shut up. Anyone know anything about these cars, so that maybee I can drill the fact into his head that my car isn't the same.
j2000 was the first model of the sunbird. One or two years after it came out (iirc) it's name changed to sunbird. It's the same car. Check the faq, it has all the info about them in there.
I'm no first gen expert here but I think it was the name of the pontiac J car for the first few years and then they changed it to sunbird, but it looks nothing like a 93 sunbird cause they were made in 82 until I think 84 or 85. They got that 77 firebird looking front end on them and in 82 I know they came with the 2.0 OHV motor after that it was the 2.0 OHC, but for the first year of J's every car had the 2.0 OHV.
He said his had a 1.8 liter and a 4-speed manual. I saw a car for sale in a driveway that I thought might have been one, but it was probably just a coustom. It had a blue sunbird body (pure stock sunbird, exactly) with chevy emblems, and a cavi interior (dash, everyhting), and it said cavalier GT on the side. What the heck is going on there, beautifully clean car although. It was in Faribault, MN if anyone knows about it.
Done really well. but odd
Sounds like someone just swapped parts. No such thing as a Cavy GT..maybe a Sunbird GT with a Cav interior, or Cav with a Sunbird GT exterior?
Probobly a cavy with sunbird tails, headlights, grill, bumpers, corners. Thats all it takes to make a cavy a sunbird.
the j 2000 was one of the first sunbird turbo modles and yes they had the 1.8.l engine in it
if only closed minds came with closed mouths
CHAOS PANIC AND DISORDER MY WORK HERE IS DONE
"if it don't fit smack it with a hammer
if it still don't fit smack it with a bigger hammer"
the j2000 didnt ever get a turbo. they were actualy the first j-car to come out, the first ones sold in early 81 as an 82 model. they had a 1.8l ohv motor in them. 83 they changed to the pontiac 2000 or sunbird 2000 (there was both in 83, dont know when one stopped) and 84 it became the sunbird. as stated, the 2000 never got a turbo, they had a 1.8l ohv in 82, and mid 83 they got the pontiac 1.8l ohc motor.
