just want to know how come everytime i turn on my car why the coolin fan turns on at the same time. It always seems to be runnin is there a reason why???? Any help would be awesome. Thanks
No its not supposed to do that. If your coolant temp sensor has gone bad it will cause the fan to run all the time (Failsafe mode to prevent engine overheating)
where do i find it to check to see if thats what it is.
Its screwed into the intake manifold right under the thermostat housing.
so how do you go about seeing if thats what my problem is??? Its not a daily driver anyways but i hate hearing it come on all the time
k, well i started to check my problem and started with the relay by the battery to find out that the bottom part of the relay with all the wires is melted. Why would this be??? How come this would happen??? Any help Please thanx
well i found the problem and its not melted, it had a lot of goo on it and seems to be workin ok i think. I had a wire from the relay pinched under a bolt that was shorting a lil. Now no more fan runnin all the time
Hi there,
My car is a 94 3.1L V-6 Sunbird GT. My problem is that the fan never comes on. I removed it and checked that it was working by powering directly from my battery. I changed the sending unit and the relay but it still won't work. I really have no idea what else it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Marcos
the power supply for the cooling fan is from a Fusible Link via a RED wire to the COOLANT FAN RELAY.
Check you have +12volts there at the RED wire on the relay.
It is not switched so if there is no +12volts at that relay you need to install a new Fusible Link
Hope this helps
