Life kicked my ass this afternoon...started off good enough...found this at a yard, so I put it on in the parking lot...
And a half hour later im on the side of the freeway with a tow truck on the way and 3 cop cars behind me...
Happened 2 hours ago...just got home...a few small cuts, but im not hurt...
so the hood latch let go and came up, and did a number on ya huh.

I had a hood latch let go on a Ford pickup. I was in the left lane, on a busy street, at 4pm in the center of a bridge, with no divider between me and oncoming traffic. I know exactly how you feel. Glad ya made it out with minor injuries.

wow that sucks bad, it happened to my brothers escort exp, and his beretta gt, did it mess up any of the new paint on the fenders and what not, that sucks bad man, the part that sucks the most is that u couldnt find a hood for the longest time and then when u do, this bullcrap happens,......

Yeah I couldnt see @!#$, so I checked my mirror...nobody there..so I slammed on the brakes...
It took a gouge out of my driver side fender, up on the top of it...and, like I said, dent in the roof...the gouge, I can prolly clean up...it didnt go to the primer or the metal...it still black inside of it, so prolly just hit it with some 1200 grit sandpaper (wet!) and then buff it..
Thankfully, for once, insurance will cover it, so they are paying for the sunroof, windshield, cowling and dent, minus the $100 deductible...
that really sucks man. definately glad you're ok though, and also that insurance is going to help you out

wow... shocking... that did a number on your windsheild too. and worse ive seen a hood rip the wipper cowl.
that happened to a friend of mine when he was changing the tranny on his cavy... i've gone thru some crazy @!#$ in my cars, and somehow always came up fine... however, im not sure what i'd do if my hood flew up on me...

a friend of mine had the same thing happen, but not as bad. his latch was broken so he had it pinned down. somebody came by and stole the hood pins and cut the wire going to em. it toasted the hood and cowl pannel, but everything else was fine.
good to see your ok. i bet all that glass from the sunroof didnt feel the greatest.

Just when you think the cars done something hapens to cause more work, what kind of shape is the hood in now that it dented your roof? Must have flew up and hit the roof pretty hard to smash the sunroof.
Dunno...had the sunroof open at the time...the hood has a few cracks here and there, biggest one is around 6 inches long, dead center in the back of the hood...I'll just lay down some fiberglass on em and smooth it out to give it some more strength...
jesus, that sucks! My CRX after a race usually ends up with the hood starting to come up. I usually just ignore it and push it back down. After seeing this, I'm gonna get some hood pins of my own
that is of course only needed after my CRX runs again (timing belt snapped on me... OUCH!)

Here's a little friendly tip for you on those cracks on the hood..
If it is a fiberglass hood and it is cracking take a tiny drill bit and drill a hole at the end of each crack and it will stop it from going further. The cracks will generally continue if you just try to cover them up.

Well, it looks about 90% sure insurance is gonna total it. Ive already decided I will do a buy back and just get the parts at a yard, windshield at least temporarily...they declared $1800 in damage..it'll take $300 or less to repair it all...figure if they give me more, then I can get some new seats, as the current ones are all full of tiny glass shards stuck in the weave...

Man.... because of you I checked my hood latch today, and it is fine. God must hate me because he makes simple carpet installs difficult.
Oh and I hate you because you have a factory sunroof.
