3300 3.3L V6 in a 2nd gen?
Thursday, August 25, 2005 3:10 AM
I was wondering, would it be possible to bolt up a 3300 V6 into a 2nd gen? I might have a blown engine comin my way and found a few realllllllllly cheap grand prix's (no titles) and 3 have 3.3L engines in them. I would also assume keep the engine and transmissions together too, to make things easier but would it bolt up?

Thanx for any input

yes it will fit

ive seen a 3.0 v6 (lower brother to the 3.3) in a 2nd gen j-body before

i used to have a 3.0 in my old 86 grand am and compared the mounting before and they are almost identical

you will have to deal with some wiring of course and " you may" need to do some fabbing for mounts (depending what u pull the motor out of)

but if you going to swap a motor go for a 3400 3500 or 3800

taetsch the 3800 is a 90 degree motor also but fits

^^^like stated above^^^ go for the 3400/3800 will more then likely drop-in w/ few probs but have fun w/ the ecu and wiring

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

i know it fits, look at my profile and see what my project car is , but it is far from being worth it,.. IE geting in to the wiering for the ECM, and then geting the tranny in ....

Like said before its been done, but those motors aren't worth it. they are badly weak. their was a guy at v6z24 bash with the 3.3l in his cavy and i think even the stock 3.1 cavys were walking him on the track and the 3400's were raping him terribly.
