I will be putting in my system in my bird. What is the max wattage the alternator can handle because I am gonna be running two solobarics 12L5's @2400 max watts and my interior speakers will be running at 400 max watts makig my system 2800 max watts altogether. I do bump my system that is why I am listing max wattage instead of rms. Are there any upgrades available for the 2.0 OHC?
I have a chance to get a 2.0 turbo manifold. Will this manifold work on the 2.0 OHC for my turbo project?
Last question is what size is the front speakers and how do I get them out as I am replacing all of my speakers in the next two weeks.
Forgot to mention is there any way to remove the speed limiter from the ecu? SUch as having it reprogrammed.
JVC KD-SX8350, Powerbass 6x9's rear, have to find some decent 4" front speakers,
Two Solobarics 12L5 powered by a Legacy LA2070 (1200x2 max).
Soundstorm F100.4 powering the interior speakers.
Now it's time for engine work.
Well, the 2.0 Turbo and N/A have the same exhaust sizes, so the turbo manifold will fit.
Front speakers are 3 and a half inch speakers, I believe. Just pop the far outside top vents out, and its a couple 7mm screws holding em in....
Finally, it is illegal to remove the speed limiter, and the post can get locked and you could get banned for attempting to do so. Doing this has killed people before.
Sorry, dont know about the alternator.
2.0 Upgrades? Not much....Turbo....or you can ditch the 2.0 and drop in a V6...
I am a track racer meaning when I do a turbo my 1/4 times I am hoping to be trapping over 100 mph. I really don't want to boost and halfway through the track the car shuts down.

Capacitators are useless and cause an extra drain on the alt when it is trying to recharge while playing music. Does anyone make a HO alternator for the 2.0 or do I have to go to a shop and have then make one for me?

I'm pretty sure it just uses the same standard Delco style alternator that basically every other car uses so you shouldn't have a problem finding a high amp alt. 180 -220amp.
you could also look for a shop that rebuilds alternators and starters they can wind it for high amperage.
The speed limiter thing is easy to find on here if you know what to look for, But you dont need to be going that fast anyways cause I bet you cant trap 100mph in the 1/4 mile and as soon as you can, you should know enough to be able to remove the speed limiter, but if not prove to me you can trap 100mph and I'll tell you how to over come the limiter.
The turbo thing will bolt on but you need the forged pistons from the turbo motor or your motor wont last very long at stock boost, dont even think about playing with boost without the forged pistions. The forged pistons also take some compression out of teh engine to make it better for boost. do a search in this forum for "2.0 FAQ" and you'll find quite a bit of info on teh 2.0, I'm working on an updated version right now with all you need to know about the DOHC swap.
And speakers......... ditch em there extra weight, lol

So roughly 746 Watts=1 Horse power
2800 Watts is about 3.75 HP lost?-is this right?
Alont
I looked up on Jet performance ECU upgades and the site said they can but I should call them and see if they do the 2.0 OHC Sunbird.
I know on my old maxima the engines were about to withstand boost w/o forged pistons. Most early model 300zx's didn't use forged pistons and lasted for over 200k miles. But I am not fond on GM engines. Either way I am gonna turbo in a few months once I find a stock 300zx t25 turbo and a 2.0 turbo manifold. I know a shop that will do the piping for like 300 and the only other things I need will be the easy stuff.
Another thing...if your car is gonna be a drag queen (sorry for pun) then why drop in a massive sound system?
This will also be my daily driver. Besides it only takes me about 30 minutes to reinstall/ replace all the unnecessary weight (subs and the massive amp for it)

Actually this was my old maxima's system. It costs too much to just sell it for half the price (which I got the solobarics for and they were only used for two months.) My L5's sound sick in my bird much louder than my maxima since there's little space to travel. I still haven't replaced my interiors even though I know what my 6x9's will be. Just don't know what to do with the front's. I have a set of 6.5" components from my maxima so I may just do something with those.
BTW what is the amperage on the stock alternator? I am buying a used alternator just in case my alti poops out I can have it built for like 220 amps and be able to use a high wattage cap (since my alti can handle the load) to maintain a good 14.5 bolt charge.
