i dont think OBD 1 covers the ABS light

but the local advance autoparts around here carry an OBD1 Scanner... just make sure you have the correct adaptor for our cars....

The ABS and ECM computers are seperate. But the ABS codes are still readable though the ALDL, and I don't think a regular code scanner will pull them up (I've never tried it before, so I may be wrong).

GM dealer can scan it, not sure about scan tools. But if your ABS light is on the most likely cause is one of the wheel sensors has become unplugged / wire broken.
Does the light come on immediately when you start the car, or not until you start moving? If it comes on once your start moving its one of the wheel sensors for sure.

The rear wheel sensors are built into the rear wheel bearings.. the front ones are attached to the knuckle in front of the brakes, look behind your front wheel at the axel you'll see a ring on it that looks like a gear.. the sensor is close to this ring.
