Newbie needs help, again . . .
Stuck on the power-steering pump removal. Can't access one of the mounting bolts - car body is in the way. Can I just place a jack under the oil pan and jack the engine up an inch or two? Or is there more to it?
Please help.
2.2 90 5spd.
you dont need to do this to remove the power steering pump. use a smaller rachet/socket. I've had mine off multiple times now. Its annoying as hell but can be done.
Socket won't fit. Wedges against the car body before the bolt loosens. Maybe I should get one of those specialty jobs - with the socket built into the handle. Sounds like it's time to visit the parts store again. Thanks.
i just used a 1/4 rachet and socket.. loosen the bolt then take use the socket and your fingers to bring it the rest of the way out.
the bolt in the back is the hardest one to get.
I've always done it with a 3/8 drive ratchet, no problems.
Picked up some offset open-ended wrenches. Maybe that'll do the trick. Only now I must wait for the rain to stop. Wouldn't you know it, hasn't rained for months here in So Cal, but the second I get my car half tore apart - it pours.
