Just wondering
How many sunbird turbo cars were produced from 1986-1990???
All i know is that these cars are rare(in my opinion)

In '90 they accounted for about 3% of Sunbirds, but I don't know about the earlier years.

About 1200 1987 sunbird turbos convertibles were made. About 300 of those were 5 speed. Now that's just convertibles. They are rare, but firenza and grand am turbo 2.0's are more rare. The problem is most owners junked the cars after they popped a head gasket or blew a turbo or both which they almost always did around 115,000 miles, or post overheating which many people let them do.. (popped the bypass hose was a common complaint then it overheats).

I'd guess there were at least 15,000 of them made.

I have the production figures for 1984 to 1987 but they only break them down by model not by engine.
They made 1505 1987 GT converts which was 1.4% of production. They made 12,060 GT coupes which was 11.3 % of production. They made 1540 4 dr sedans which was 1.4% of production and 415 hatchbacks which was .4% of production. This is only 1987 figures.
