Does anybody know if the 2.8 or 3.1 ever came without a/c in any gm fwd car
cause every one I have looked at has it and i don't want to have it, mine
doesn't work, can i replace it with a idler pulley or no?

Why would you not want it when AC systems are so easy to fix?

The difference is not great enough to be worth it. Seriously, exactly what are you going to gain by getting rid of it and roasting throughout the summer? I would say that the power and weight differences are not enough to justify it. Would you keep the gas less than 1/4 full all the time, loose everything from the trunk including spare tire, jack, and carpeting? What about sound insulation and carpeting from the car? Radio and other unnecessary components? Most people would not. It's a j-body, not a race car.

um ok using that kinda thinking then underdrive pullys are not worth it

and of all the things you listed the only thing i havent done is remove the radio and the gas

if i was going to the drag strip then i woul have right around 1\4 tank

but then agen its not my only car lol

I really hope you don't believe that. Bolt ons that add power are fine, but if I were going to build a drag car it sure would not be a j-body. There are plenty of cars that can be made to run quicker 1/4s for alot less money and alot less work. There is nothing wrong with upgrading your performance and making you car more fun to drive, but let's face it, Cavaliers and Sunbirds are NOT racecars. They can be customized and personalized, but will still not be capable of what plenty of other cars are.

I like driving my Sunbird, and I have done things to it to get more power from it, but the Integra I used to have (drunk @ 70 mph killed it) could out accelerate, out handle, and out brake it. Could I make a j-body quicker than my old Integra was? I probably could. Handling and breaking are another story lol. Sacrificing comfort for maybe a mile an hour or two or less than a tenth of a secone is really not worth it to me.
