iam planning on putting a 2.2 in a 1993 Pontiac sunbrid which came with the 2.0 OHC and iam going to swap it out and put a 2.2. what do you guys think.
um, why??? its not like the 2.2 is a real great motor. id be way more inclined to do a 2.0 turbo or 3400 swap
I don't know. I really like how simple it is, especially mine with TBI intake. The only thing I don't like about it is trying to get to the power steering pump bolts. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. I tell you it's WAY easier to work on than a V6, but the turbo swap isn't bad either.
Forget about that 2.2, if you're going to do all that work then make it worth your while. Go turbo or v-6 and you'll be much happier with the performance gains.
You can't outrun the radio.
he can boost his 2.2 once he gets it in if he so desires. but yeah all of you are right... without boost the 2.2 just plane has no balls.

p.s. I seen that you were posting in the boosted forum just a bit ago about boosting your current engine?? what happend to that idea?

well i would have to go to a junkyard and get a 2.0 turbo engine. because i just replaced everything on the top end of my engine and then the #1 connecting rod breaks and goes throw the block.
I strongly don’t recommend the 2.2L I have already thrown a rod in one 2.2L and I have a few things done to my 2.2L now, Intake, Exhaust, Gasket matched intake manifold, Under drive pully kit, plugs and wires.... and a few other small mods and its still not that great at all!! Like everyone said 3400 (which is what im doing) or 2.0 turbo!!! That’s my thought...... but its up to you..... I was thinking about boosting my 2.2L but internals would be strongly recommended when doing that cause like I said I through a rod on a NA motor with low miles and recently checked oil and oil changes!!!
The 2.0 is a superior motor. Don't downgrade.
