I am trying to figure out my gas mileage on my 1993 VL Coupe 3 Speed auto and if it is a 10 Gal then I am getting a little over 31MPG. I filled it up last week and have gotten 302 miles to the tank and I have one notch left on the guage.
Hope it is a 10 gal, but may be 11.
Thanks, I love my 2G

I thought they were 13.5 gall
**changes are here**
My Chilton's manual says it should be 13.6, but you don't need to know how big the tank is to do gas mileage. Next time you fill up write down the odometer reading, and drive until you need to get gas again. Write down the odometer again and figure out how many miles you went, and divide that by how many gallons of gas you put in.
If you are getting 31mpg I'm jealous, I can't get that with my 2.0 5 speed.
You can't outrun the radio.
No way its 13.6, I though 11 max. I am going to runit down to check guages and fill it up completely. Gas prices are about 2.50 here so usually takes 30$, 12 gallons I guess. Maybe I am not getting as good MPG as I thought.
300/10=30 --- Thank kicks ass
300/11=27 --- not too bad
300/12=25 --- I thought 4cyls did better than that
300/13=23 --- Why not buy a truck
300/13.6=22 --- I hope not.
I have been driving like an old lady for a week now and doing extrememly slow acceleration, no way she is a 13 gal tank.

I believe it is. the tank was pretty much universal through a vl,rs and a z24. Now I'm sure you already know this but just keep in mind when the needle is on empty adn you think you are about to run out of gas there is still extra in the tank (if that makes sence)

Its 13.5/6. Its the same tank as the steel 3rd gens up through either 99 or 00. The plastic one is smaller IIRC, but will still bolt into the same spot, and is useable on 2nd and 3rd gens.
I know that, but when check guages comes on, how much exactly do I have left, 1gal? This car does well on E and the light doesnt come on until after its under E.

hmmmm dont 92+ have 15.2 gallon tank? and pre 92 has 13.6.
Impossible, my tank has never taken that much. I am going to fill up tomorrow but I have never seen more than 11 gallons go in the car and I have owned it three years now.
300/15=20MPG That blows ass for such a slow ass car, lol.
For the 3400 swap did you have to change the harness? Arent the 3.1/2.8 blocks and 3100/3400 blocks the same, same harness? Maybe I am dead wrong but I am wondering what to do with the next 2G vert I am getting in a couple weeks.

yea i used the stock harness just moved some sensor wires around and put the 3.1 sensor in the block.
My gf has a 93 sunbird le and ive never filled it up beyond 11 gallons and she has a 15.2 gallon tank. My car ive filled up 12 gallons only 1 time, usually around 11 on E.
The smallest tank I can find in my book is 13.6, I don't think theres any other way it can be smaller. I had a truck with a 34 gallon tank, it was so low when I go to the station it would barely run but it still only took 32 and a half gallons. The tank size is the maximum it can hold, your fuel pump has a hard time picking up every last drop. My 2.0 5 speed only gets 22-24 mpg, you can't expect great mileage from a car that has 13 years of carbon, outdated technology and a 3 speed auto.
You can't outrun the radio.
My 91' 2.2 5-speed Cav got around 22 mph city (pushing it for all it was worth), but cruising on the highway at 70-80 mph, it got 40 mpg.

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
It must lose suction with a gallon left in the tank. The absolute most I was ever able to put in my car was just under 14 gallons.
93+ get a 15 gallon tank.. And your tank size has absolutely nothing to do with your MPG so im not sure why you are even asking. I also wonder why you think a GM gas guage is anywhere near accurate? hehehe.
I was just dividing my miles to a full tank by the number of gallons.
Yesterday I filled up 13.77 gallons, 33$.
I filled up after driving on check guages for a day, about 12 miles. I know the GM gas guages arent accurate, especially because from full to half tank it takes for ever and then half to none goes in 13 miles, lol.

Mine tops out around 15 gal....
i get 400 miles from full tank to gas warning light... in my 93 VL
my 2000 Z24 5 speed only gets 20 miles per gallon... but i gotta do a fuel injection on it
