Has anybody on the list ever put the 3.1V6 into a fiero ?

any issues with clearances/bolt-up to the getrag ect? custom fabs/adapters that needed doing?

Uh...

The fiero came with the 2.8 v6 which is the same motor with a smaller stroke then the 3.1 A 3.1 would drop in but the manifolds differ on teh fiero...

Thanks Prontus..........I've owned and worked on both the 2.8 (S-10 4x4) and the 3.1 (j-bodies).......but never before now had the the oportunity (or really the inclination to compare the bolt patterns, mount spacings, ect.

I thinks I need to buy a new copy of the chevy power manual

I'm sure they have, but, with all the other swaps out there.....why?

Mostly because I already have a 3.1 laying around., AND I've wanted another Fiero since I sold my Indy in 1991.

Tgings have finally come together by pure bull@!#$ luck that I can have one as a long-term project while the SSE is my daily driver.

While you're at it look into seeing how far you can get with 3100 and 3400 parts on that 3.1 block. You should talk to Colin aka 31v6ho or whatever his name on here is...

Thanks.......kind of a dream (I havent really looked into yet) is somehow getting it carburated and ditch the injectors, ecm, all of it. I'm pretty sure I can find an aftermarket manifold to do the trick, but the ignition is going to be interesting to say the least. Go back to about 1973 technology-wise.Since the chasis is pre-88 I dont have to worry about meeting emissions around here.

It'll guzzle the gas and probably cost a little power, but would be dead simple to tune, work on ect. Techno is great to a point, but simplicity has its charms too.

why get rid of the computer. you can make better power with fuel injection.

honestly, for the amount of time and money in getting the gen 2 3.1l to work in the fiero, go find a 3800 or a 4.9l caddy motor.
