pretty self explainitory, where do the gauges run too?
voltometer-clueless
oil psi-clueless
water temp-clueless
tachometer-on my 94 bird i had it running to the white wire coming from the coil pack, but it only read half rpms. please post info asap cause i gotta j-body meet to go to on april 1st and i would like to have all this installed.
please post pics if posible, ill post pics after installed if i can get the right instructions.
BTW- its a 93 2.0 OHC bird. thanks again!

The voltmeter can go to any ignition hot source. All it does it tell you system voltage.
The oil pressure has to be done on the block. I don't know what the side of the 2.0OHC looks like, but normally, there is an NPT port somewhere near the oil filter. If there is no plug, you can "T" with another sending unit, there should be a factory one somewhere. Take the plug out, put the sending unit in, and run the wire to the gauge.
The water temp should go somewhere near the thermostat. There is probably a plug there somewhere. Remember that in order to function properly, the sending unit needs water flowing around it, meaning, it can't be "T'ed" with another (typically factory) sending unit. Tke the plug out, put the sending unit in, run the wire to the gauge.
There is probably a wire you can hook to at the ECM for the tach. I don't know what it is, but it will be in the factory (not the Haynes/Chiltons crap) service manual.
are you adding these gauges into the car??? or are these factory gauges in the cluster.
if your adding them in, here is what you do
voltmeter- run the black to ground, and the red wire to a switched 12 volt sorce
oil psi- you need to put the sending unit in that came with the gauge. just add a T fitting were the factory sender and run it like that. if there is no sender, youi need to find out what the signal wire is on the factory unit and run it off that
water temp- take the sending unit out of the cylender head (on the end above the tranny) and install the one that came with a gauge. if one didnt come with the gauge, then tie into the factory sender.
tach- you need to run it off the white wire on the coil module. the only reason it would read half would be if the tach is set on v6 or v8. it needs to be set to 4cyl to work right. consult your instructions
well the tach had been tried on every setting (4,6,8) and still only half rpm's at the 4th setting.
but ok, the oil psi-t it to another sending unit on the block
water temp-to the driver side of the motor and replace the factory sending unit (btw will unpluging that unit do anything bad?)
voltometer-power wire in cdplayer?
I love it when two people post at the same time
Don't just pull a sending unit out of the block and assume its the oil pressure sender. Make sure its the right one. They're typically near the oil filter.
I wouldn't go replacing the factory water temp sender, since thats probably how the ECM gets its reading (although I'm not positive, since its a 2.0OHC, I'm an OHV guy), so yes, that would be bad. There should be another port close to the thermostat with a plug in it somewhere. Its much safer to do it that way.
As long as you hook the voltmeter to an ignition switched hot wire, you're good. If you connect it to a constant hot, it will always be on.
the sending unit in the head on the ohc is for the factory gauge (or dummy light), its a one wire sending unit. the one for the ecm is in the t-stat housing on the front of the motor. unglugging the one in the head wont do any harm, only thing is the factory gauge or light wont work.
you dont want to just unplug the factory oil sending unit, this is how the fuel pump turns on (the fuel pump is only on when there is oil pressure). if you unplug it or dont have oil pressure to it, the car wont run.
having the same problem with the tach....hope to figure this one out tonight will post if i find a solution
