Well it looks like i am going to take off my oil pan next week.
I plan on taking it off with the engine in the car.
The only problem i see is the passenger side frame rail being in the way.
COULD ANYBODY SPREAD SOME LIGHT ON THIS SUBJECT BEFORE I GET STARTED?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Well, I couldn't do it with the engine in the car, but only because of the gasket. It's a funky gasket because it seals between the pan and windage tray, and between the tray and the block. The one on mine was just stuck really good and when I finally peeled it back, the pan dropped right off. As far as anything else keeping it from coming out, I say not that I know of but not totally sure
Unfortunately I've had mine off enough times to know the only thing in the way is the exhaust pipe. Other than that it should come right off. The stock windage tray has the gasket bonded or glued to it.
The Fel Pro replacement gasket is kinda weird in that it has a slit the long way so it slides over the windage tray after you peel off the old gasket. Taking the old gasket off the tray is a real party so have fun.
I bought a new GM windage tray and the gasket comes bonded to it. It seems to be a lot nicer than the OEM 80's gasket too. It's like $80 bucks though.

I have to agree + 1k with taking off the old gasket. It is a total PITA to remove the stock gasket form the pan... I let it soak in a parts cleaner for a day and it STILL didn't want to come off.

I used a razor blade and a zen like trance to "uncork" mine....
the felpro permaseal gasket is a hella nice upgrade but make sure you torque it properly or you'll ruin it.

Well i guess patience will be my main concern
I used another normal gasket. The new oil drain location (equal length turbo header=turbo is 4" to the left and 6" lower) blocked one of my holes so I made a clamp that holds it to the block there. It all worked out very well. I am pleased with the regular pan gasket.
