Alright, im having an issue with the idle on my 92 z24 it has a 3.1 with an auto trans. When i first start it the idle is fine then after about 20 seconds or so it starts bouncing around and occasionally it will stall at idle or in gear, doesnt matter if its warm or cold. I replaced the wires and plugs, removed the plenum, cleaned all the carbon out + the throttle body and also replaced the tps sensor and no change. I dont have any codes up, and its not a misfire, anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

I had the same problem withe my old 92z changed every sensor checked for vacume leaks flushed fuel injectors. Never fixed it. Didnt stall out though. Try replacing some of the sensors and check for vacume leak. Could be just a problem with the 92.
perhaps the o2 sensor?when was it changed last?

Today i took the egr valve apart and cleaned that out, and it seems like it runs alittle better it didnt stall at all after i cleaned it, but the idle is still acting up slightly, theres also a crack in the exhaust system before the cat so this could also be causing the idle problem. Also what oil pressure does the 3.1 normally run at? im curious because mine is kinda low i think, it keeps dropping at idle down to 10 but goes no lower, and when you step on the gas it jumps right back up between 40 and 60, i plan on replacing the o ring seal on the pump anyways. I also checked for vacume leaks and i didnt find any. I unpluged the IAT sensor with it running and it made no difference.
Mike as for the o2 sensors im not sure i just bought this car, it sat for 2 years, i replaced the fuel pump and battery and it fired right up. Id think if it were the o2 sensors id get a code, but there are no codes. The car has 172,000 miles on it some im sure the o2 sensor have been changed before i just dont know when.

try cleaning the IAC with carb cleaner, its located ontop of the TB also if u have a haynes/chiltons book it gives measurements for how far the spring should stick out on the IAC,if its out to far u will need a replacement. there about $60CDN new but if u head to the yard all 60 degree motors ahve the same IAC(2.8,3.1,3100,3400) and they fit nicely in ur pocket

Mike i cleaned it bout 2 weeks ago so i figured id go to autozone and pick one up, well they could fine one in the computer only one they found was in the air cleaner housing which isnt the one a need, i have another older one so ill clean that and switch them and see what happens. Also, you think replacing the map sensor would help any, i can get one for $25 so i figured it wouldnt hurt to replace it, this car did sit for a long time.

Hey I have a 90 z24 witht he 3.1 and mine did it too, as well as my brothers 2.8 what it was with mine was the MAP sensor and EGR valve.
Try replacing yoru MAP sensor.
Thanks Chris im going to give that a shot this weekend when i get my income tax back, im kinda broke at this moment, lol. I hoping that will solve the problems i drove it today and it runs and drives just when its in park it doesnt idle right, it still bounces around alittle

Well my 94Z has a similar problem, when it warms up idles a little rough, When I drive it and slow down it starts to sputter and stall, well cleaned everything and still did it....it ended up that the transaxles are known for the TCC sensor acting up, I unplugged the sensor and now runs like a charm, just means it will rev a little higher and it eliminates the torque convertor from locking up. I was told replacing the TCC is in the price range of $300, but never checked it out for myself.
the tcc is around $80 its not hard to do. There is a how to on v6z24.com check it out
are you shure that its not running extremly rich or that the cat isnt clogged thats what my prob was with my buddys old 92z 5sp
