Since I am not going to be able to do the Ecotec swap, would a 4T40E trans swap be feasible?! Are there issues with the OE computer with which I should be concerned?!
By the way, I have a '94 Sunbird with a 2.0L 4-cyl. The reason behind the 4T40E swap is better gas mileage. Not that the mileage in the Sunbird now is bad; far from it. But I would like to take advantage of the General's most recent trans technology to make mileage even better.
the 4T40E is an electronic tranny, seeing that no 2nd Gen's had electronically controlled trannies, it really wouldn't work. You would have to get an aftermarket tranny controller. There is the 4T60, but I don't believe it came with the correct bell housing to fit the 2.0.
I know there were some cars in the early 90's that came with the single cam or low output 2.3's. Check those to see if any had non-electronic automatics. Actually, I think the Skylarks (N body, Grand AM, etc) and W Bodies might have had them.

im gonna burst your bubble right off the bat here. the 2.0l ohc is its own bellhousing bolt pattern shared with nothing. the only gm tranny to bolt up to it is the th125 (3T40) that you have in it now. your best bet for gas mialage is a 5 speed.
all the quad 4 (and quad ohc, the sohc version) came with a th125 as well, never a 4 speed untill 95 in the 3rd gen J. the only time a fwd came with a 4 speed auto was a mid-full size cars with the v6 or v8, this being true from 80-94.
i also heard that the Electronic trannies had tons of problems as opposed to the older 3 speeds with over drive found in our cars...

I was afraid that you were going to say that.
Since we know the Daewoo 2.0 and 2.2 are the same basic architecture as the 2.0 I believe the auto tranny (probably a 4T40E) from one of those would bolt up. The electronics part will probably be a real hassle though so good luck with that!

dawoo does not use a gm automatic. nothing from a dawoo will work in a j-body.
