I have a 90 sunbird conv w/turbo eng,it has 122K on the stock injectors,what injectors would be a good up grade,like would a set from a 2.4L work ? I have a new motor comming in a couple weeks so I think now is a good time to repl em,,,BTW what were the stock injectors rated at ?? thanks,,Jack
I can tell u from my b/s experience that auto zone carries or rather lists and sells the wrong injector for 2.0 tbi cars.As for the psi it is 13psi by spec for these motors with tbi being (1) injector.I replaced my injector two yrs ago bc of wear and age and spray pattern was dumping fuel dribbles and spray over fueling my car.I myself do not know of a upgraded version since I am keeping mine stock.By the way advance auto sells the correct part and it cost like 70.00 bux for it and its a oem replacement.Keep in mind bc of yr model ur injector may vary from mine being a 85 but I would steer clear of auto zone on that purchase.
It's not an OHV.. Sunbird turbo engines are OHC, and I read somewhere and I can't say that I'm 100% sure but if I remember correctly they are 45lb injectors. As far as an upgrade, of the the other guys could answer that better than I can
I think the injectors are closer to 30#/hr. Most injectors from the '80s or '90s will fit, though some will be better. Either high or low resistance injectors will work. OEM are low impedance.
A couple of people are using Mopar 55# units but they run rich without tuning.

Youre right,it is a OHC ! I was just wondering what oter years and make would physicly fit and be a direct repl (in # wise) or would be a bit of an upgrade w/o a chip change.I own two turbo buicks and when we change the injectors we have to do a chip change also,do these pontiacs also require a chip change with bigger injectors ???--thanks,,Jack
The Pontiacs are like the Buicks. Go with a little bigger injector and you can get away without the chip. Go to a lot bigger injector and you really want the chip.
Merkur 2.3 injectors are a reasonable upgrade. Or you can just increase fuel pressure some.

How much boost are you planning to run? I'm using stock injectors with 17 psi and ecm tuning.
32 or 37 lbs would be reasonable. 37 is probably a better buy... 32's aren't too much larger.
