Ok, so i have now reached a crutail point in my time with this car... the intercooler is in and it is running 12 psi... however this is right on the edge of the fuel cut of the factory maps, my question is, to the turbo guys, what should i do to SAFELY run this psi.....
current supporting mods:
Large FMIC with 21/4 piping
MSD 6A ign box
2.5 exhaust, with hiflow cat and muffler
msd coil wires, delco plugs, rebuilt top end
tgp turbo...
what would you suggest next and can one of you guys who are running anykind of tuning software burn me a custom chip and suggest where to go from here.....
thanks for reading this and hopefully i get some good responses other than "search"

Search.
Sorry, had to do it.
Manual or auto trans? I ran 12 psi for a couple of years with a stock system + IC + cheap Mitsu BOV + tuning. Same setup is now at 17 psi. Car has 230k+ miles.

I was hitting boost cut stock on an auto... it sucked a tad.. I lowered the compression a little durring the build and am using a rather large custom turbo.. Should be pulling 20psi using megasquirt and srt-4 injectors safely..... will see.

Boost cut can only be turned up to about 14 psi with the stock MAP sensor. You can use something to fool it, but the ecm can't control timing or booost correctly if it can't see it. You can get a 3 BAR MAP sensor and a custom chip to go higher. I've got boost cut set at about 25 psi, but boost is only at about 17 (stock turbo, fuel system, engine).

Yep. You've got to supply one to burn.
I use tunercat, promgrammer, a hex editor, and lately I've been using tunerpro (very nice).
Sorry, I'm an old guy, type slow. IM too fast for me. Sendum email.

slow, what chip would i have to provide you with???? a stock one orrr???? i should check thouse out just for now i want to have a bit more of a safety window for the tune... what map sensor did ya use?

The MAP sensor is for an 89 turbo trans am boost gauge. Do a search for "3 BAR MAP sensor" and you should find the number. I got mine from gmpartsdirect.com.
That sensor will not work correctly without a custom chip. But the custom chip can still keep boost low, it just allows you to raise the cut out above 14 psi.
I need a stock one to start with. Doesn't matter if it's from an auto or manual trans car. Just as long as it's from the '7749 ecm and 2.0 turbo.
