no cat = too loud!?
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 10:46 AM
I have been running this
dual cannister Ractive pipe now for almost a year with the stock cat and I loved it! might have been a little too loud sometimes, but nothing serious I was alright with it. Yesterday I got the cat took off and a stright pipe installed to replace it (because I suspicions that the cat was shot) and sure enough, the car is wayyy louder. To loud! What can I do about it? I dont want another OEM cat, they suck! I dont have to worry about emisions where I live so I'm not concered about that. I just want to know what I can replace that straight pipe with to quiet the car a little without ruining the nice exhaust sound!?

btw, I will try to make a recording of what it sounds like now, compared to before.
I have a before recording made from when I first got it.

Scruf's been running a straight pipe on the vert for around 3 years now...yes, it's loud, and it rarely sounds good. i don't know how he managed to make his sound as good as it did(before the exhaust started falling apart).

maybe a resonator would help. I know that muffler is loud as hell, my buddy had one on his beretta gtz.

yeah it should give it a lower tone anyways or go the high flow cat route. Regardless that muffler is damn loud

These are great ideas, I'll decide one of these days what route I'm going to try.

Meanwhile, here is a clip of the muffler a few days after I had it put on with the stock cat.

I'm going to make a new one of what it sounds like now in the next few days, I'll post it when I do

a cherry bomb glasspack before the muffler will do it. i had it done to mine with a ractive upswept, same muffler inside so it should sound the same, just a different look. i know what u mean, its way to loud without the cat, but a glasspack where the stock cat goes sounds great. cheap easy, and didnt slow me down at all.
