290K miles

Well, my 90 Cav 2.2 finally hit 290,000 miles the other day. Everything in the engine is original from the factory except the head gasket, timing set, and lifters. I drive the crap out of my car every day, and to anyone who says that an american car won't last as long as an import, I say .... I love my car, I've had it for like 11 years or so. I still have some things to modify to make it exactly like I want it, but I can't see getting rid of it for anything. I'm pretty sure it will hit 300k without any work being done to the engine other than regular maintanence, but after that who knows. 2nd gens kick ass, and by the way, CO CANES!!!

my grandparents had an 84 base model cavy that went nearly 500k before the body rusted in half i remember getting up one morning and the car looked like it had a broken back. the michigan winter just destoryed the body but the motor went into another car cause it was still strong

my old motor went 400k km before i pulled it out, just cause i had a built up motor to put in it. i wouldnt hesitate to put that motor in another car, it ran great didnt smoke, just not fast enough (btw it was a 2.8l)

the rest of my car had some rust, but most of it was solid. i bought the car with 365k km on it but it didnt run or drive due to a smoked out clutch and lots of electrical problems caused by someone doing a crap wiring repair. the suspention finaly got changed at 420k km, and the original 4 speed stick got tossed aside for a 5 speed at 375k km.

And I'm driving it from here in NC to Myrtle Beach this weekend, so hopefully no problems will be had. Need to change the oil and check everything out before I go. 3 1/2 to 4 hour trip
