Shaving the rear lights
Monday, May 29, 2006 5:21 PM
Ok. i am the very proud owner of a '94 Z24. My question was, Does anyone know how to shave the rear tail lights? Not the brake lights, but the ones in the lcence plate area, as well as filling in the licence plate hole. My goal is to have the entire rear of the car to be completly flat. Please Help!?

Thanks

I don't think anybody is going to walk you through a project that would take years of bodywork experience.

As a body man for 16 years, Thats not an easy task nor would it be cheap to have it done, not to mention finding a shop to do it right. It can be done, not too sure that It would be my first choice of mod but its your car. I wouldnt recommend that you try it, if your asking us what to do first. You may cause more harm than good and for sure you wont find any one to touch it. If they do get out your wallet.
If some one comes in to our shop with body work that they tried to do, Ill either send them down the road or charge them to un do what they did.

That doesnt look bad, kind of looks like a neon rear. I would get the clear tails though. Did you have it done or do it yourself? If you had it done what did it cost? I probably would do something like that for 400 usd, thats for in primer only.

actually another guy made them for his car and when he redid his he sold them to me

He started off with a sunbird rear tail light section and a elcamino lisence plate holder, the tails are 91-96 Vette tails.

the plus side to mine is if I get bored with them I can switch them out for stock tails or whatever

I do have to redo some work on the middle panel because its starting to crack around lisence plate holder

Doesnt look bad either. There must be alot of talented guys on here. How did you do that since you still have the original license plate location.
