dashpad question
Saturday, May 27, 2006 5:39 AM
Is it possible to change the top pad of the dash in a sunbird without removing the lower half of it or is it all one piece. I think i need to mess with my heater ducts and i also dont like my ugly tan dashpad either . anyone got some good ideas to share?

I think the pad is molded to the dash structure.

It's all one piece. I swapped my light grey one for a graphite one last summer and boy was it a pain in the a$$.

I prefer the Sunbird dash...it has stylish curves, as opposed to the boxy ugliness of Cavalier dashes.

Also, it is suprisingly easy to remove the dash. 1 large bolt in each lower corner, 4 screws in the defroster vents, and 2 or 3 bolts holding the steering column on is all that holds the dash in.

Dont forget to unplug the wiring and the vacuum lines though!

mine would be easier it has one big washer and a screw in the center of it. but im getting something newer and more roomy but the sunbird will be a back up car for when i need to fix something
