Well guys it is getting to that point where the exhaust on my car is sooo rusty that it will need to be replaced here pretty soon. I have been thinking about getting either the 2.5 or 3 inch dual exhaust from jbodyperformance.com. Anyway, I really like the throaty sound of the SRT-4, and seeing as how the exhuast from JBP desn't come with mufflers, I figured that I had free reign to put whatever I want on it. So what muffler could I use to give that SRT-4'ish sound? Any before you ask, yes I do plan on going turbo, and I would like to keep the catalytic converter on the car as well. I don't want a copycat replica, just something similar. I have Hooker Aerochamber mufflers on my 98 Trans Am, and it sound great, but it is not a fair comparison in relation to power and sound. So give me some opinions! What you guys use that sound good, or know what someone else has on thier car that is close. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Paul Moore
Trying to become the most modded out N/A 2nd gen sunbird 4 cylinder on the org with a..... screw that, I'm going turbo!!!
2.Slow OHC I4
Ported cylinder head, intake and exhaust
Relocated IAT with a custom WAI with a 6x9 K&N conical filter
All this, and I still can't go fast.............yet!!
Ide skip the whole SRT 4 deepthroat sound.........that sounds kinda gay
.....In all honesty man.....these 4 cyl actually sound pretty good with just a good 'ol $20 cherry bomb muffler and tip. I have one on my 88 sunbird turbo, with a pace-setter tip and it sounds awsome.....a guy down the road from me has an N/A 2.0 bird like yourself and it sounds a little different but still way better than that tin can ricy sound 4 cylinders generally sound like!
My car with 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust and a $30 Defender muffler. Also a 2.0 OHC...

That's for the sound clip. Your car sounds just fine, but I would like mine to be deeper than that. I don't know how to explain it. I want my sunbird to sound like a V8 kinda. But the closest 4 cylinder car that I have ever heard that sounds like it is the SRT-4. I will just have to start listening to some other stuff and find out what I think will work on my car.
