I bought my 90 Z24 and noticed the clutch acted funny. The more I drove it the worse it got. Clutch wasnt wanting to release in any of the gears causing clash in every change. So i set it aside and just abused the hell out of it until I got the time to put a cluch in it. I went ahead and bought clutch pressure plate and release bearing. Well after I got the tranny out I noticed there wasnt a lot of clutch disk missing just torn to crap. So I begain to find the reason why. Everything looked good until I tried to move the clutch forks. They seemed to be sticking in nomerous positions and not release as it should have. So I found that the upper and lower portion of the shaft was held by a needle bearing in the casing so I then thought the needle bearings could be bad. I then took it about and see the ends cut to peices... The needles made grooves in the clutch fork. Anyone ever had this problem? I need to make sure my problem here is the proble that will cure my clutch eating machine. thanks
ive seen the bearings come out of them before. if the shaft is sticking, it likley is the problem. other things to look for would be a leaking clutch master cyl or slave cyl. its easy to check, just pull the dust boot off the end of them and if there is any fluid, its bad.
yeah I've already replaced the clust M-Cylinder and slave unit thinking that was the prob. NOT so I know now what is causing it.
So I went to work and got my employee discount and it's still 167+ not including the rear main front main seals leaking along with both axle seals oh and a power steering pump. EERRR
