i was wondering if anybody has instaled a blow off valve on a sunbird 2.0 turbo...what kind,ur setup, and how does it sound..im running really high boost with out a blow off valve and i dont want to blow up the turbo in between shifts..
yep
Greddy Type S, i LOVe the sound, sounds jus like the 1stgen DSM (talon) BOV but louder!. also what kinda boost you runnin n what kinda mods?!
1st 1st gen on air.....
got the turbo XS BOV wicked loud at 9 psi
^^ i had that bov and i hated it, loud yes, but it seems to leak at higher PSI, too much flutter!
1st 1st gen on air.....
Stock 3000GT bov. Fairly quiet, little flutter.
-->Slow
my mods are a homemade cold air intake,2.5inch exaust,no cat, tuner muffler,i think my boost is aroud 15psi.. i can burn out in first and second and cherp the tiers in third,i can peg the spedo in forth befor i hit red line..
well, if you have done no computer tuning, your boost will be 5-9 psi. dont rely on the factory boost gauge, they are always far from right. the ecm will cut the fuel if it detects more than 12 psi.
it does cut out if i just put it to the floor.. i cant go past 3/4 throttle
??? no no if you hit that kinda boost ANYWHERE in the throttle range it iwll cut out, what are you running for a boost guage...? and what turbo.
1st 1st gen on air.....
stock turbo and auto-meter gauge ..but if i just put it to the floor it will cut out i have to press the gas slowly its the only way to drive it
then you need to turn down your boost to the point that you can pin it and not hit the cut-off.........or you have the option of bleeding the airline to the map sensor which allows you to increase boost without hitting cut-off......but then you run the risk of running lean.
he has no method of adjustment since its stock setup with the wastegate line removed
ah ok, that will blow things up. its not good hitting fuel cut all the time. i would put in a boost controller so your able to adjust it down to 11psi. doesnt have to be anything expensive, a manual boost controller will work just fine.
i dont like doing map bleeds. a map bleed will bleed off pressure so the ecm only detects , say, 10psi boost. now if your running 15psi and the computer only thinks your running 10, you are also only running fuel and timing for 10psi, and you can end up with detonation, or melt a piston.
yah.....better just add more fuel with more boost.
I use a 1st Gen DSM type modified so it can hold over 17 psi. They show how to do it on www.thedodgegarage.com. I don't like the obnoxiously loud ricer types. Seems MAP bleeds are either love or hate. I had one and am a fan of them for what they offer. Just keep your eye on your gauges!
