I'm reassembling my car that I have been working on for some time now. I get to my door and I'm test fitting them making sure all is well. Well, when the door is supposed to be in its closed position it has a ton of play. As if the latch is giving way to much. So I played with the latch and on the secondary latch sequence the latch doesnt hold in one position. The latch instead moves back and for about 1/4 of an inch. To me that seems WAY to much. what is the deal here???? I have had the latches out on both doors so I could add a shaved door kit. Is there something I might have thrown away that held this latch in one position?

maybe it was sitting on the latch and it stretched a springload that used to keep it in place?
