2.2 Throttle Body sensor question
Thursday, October 19, 2006 1:04 PM
After a year of down time ... i'm finally about ready to take my car to a car show tomorrow... Ive got the rebuilt motor in, and about 200 miles on it... but ive noticed that on top of the throttle body there are 4 plugs, and they are all the same (meaning they can interchange between the 4 sensors)... my car at idle stalls (moreso when something electrical happens like the cooling fan kicks on, or when i turn on the head lights... but also if i step on the brakes hard) but if i give it some gas, it wont stall...

does anyone know which color wires goes with each sensor respectively... i wanna make sure i got this right before i take it out of the city...

1993 Cavy VL 2.2

Now heres my update...
Thanksgiving 2005.... about the time i stopped posting on here... my car went off the road...
I blew a head gasket... so i took my head off and had it ported and polished and gasket matched and replaced all the internals, and swapped the Rocker arms to Comp Cams Magnum Roller Rockers.

I drove the car maybe 20 miles when i spun a rod berring...

so i yanked the motor out and had that line bored .50 over, clevite 77 berrings installed, mulling oil pump, Eagle Rods... over sized pistons.

so now thats in the car...

I have a massive body improvement too, but i gotta wait till the car show this weekend (Freak Show) to take and post pictures...

Knowing that i have the BMW E36 Headlights, and Nissan Skyline R32 Taillights... my next conversion involved a BMW E30 Part... thats all imma say for now...

Any assistance with the above mentioned question would be appreciated.

Yea... ive been patiently waiting for almost a year to post another update... the only person on here who has seen my new front end so far is James Cahill... so i cant wait to throw new pics out... ive been working on my car now for about 15 hours... and in maybe 15 - 20 minutes its gonna get primered...

since i didnt really get a response to my sensor question, imma leave it as it is (rough idle, stall when something electric happens)... the motor itself is mechanically sound... the only thing i dont like is the ticking from the roller rockers... i reset the lash like 4 or 5 times and i still can't get it to go away... so its like 30 hp or no tick... with all the weight of the widebody i need that 30 HP... haha... i give up trying to make that car fast... its too heavy... i now have a 2000 Z24 with a Toyota Cavalier 2.4 in it ... i have 9000 miles on the motor now, Greddy Stage 1 Clutch, KYB Shocks and Struts... its my daily driver now...

Yeah, I saw it- very sweet. I'm waiting to see the show pics soon.

I did get your message, but I can't really call during the day (Army reasons).

On my car, all the connectors are different shaped, TPS, IAC, MAP, and purge. All the sensors are the same between the years, so I'm not really sure where you're talking about. Your problem might lie in the steering column harness, I've seen similar issues where the main connector is loose and causes fan and headlight problems.

Justin- shoot me an email (its an HP thing)
