And a Jackass is still a jackass.
You sir, are the reason I loathe going to the track on open days. Because people like you completely ignore the amount of work that went into the project and say completely retarded @!#$ like "oh it's still a daewoo"
Well you have an 89 cavalier.... It's still a cavalier. And with all those "Uber Tyte" mods you have in your "future mods" section, you sure must know what you're doing with that car.
Well ya know what? it's still a cavalier.
Pardon me! It wasn't in your future mods section... they're actually ON the car......
Please take not of the last line in the previous post.
i didn't mean to sound malicious...
but now that you forced me to defend myself, i just gotta ask:
are you proud to drive a daewoo?
cuz i'm very proud of my cav...
What kind of a question is that?
You're not even trying to defend the topic at hand, you're just trying to look for something to say to me.
Grow up.

of course i know what i'm doing....
good luck with what you're doing though, are you more experienced with daewoos or sunbirds?
Hey, kids. Easy.
Elias, the Daewoo has some interesting features imo. First and foremost are the 2.0 and 2.2 DOHC engines which are direct decendents of the engines used in the Pontiac J2000 of the mid 80's and the Sunbirds of the early 90's. These engines are coupled with a 4 speed automatic GM trans (the only electronically shifted 4 speed trans which fits the OHC ' bird engine) and a Delco / Delphi OBDII controller which appears to be a dual processor unit similar to the LT1 and Cadillac Northstar pcm's. GM has invested a fair amount of capital in Daewoo and it shows in the powertrain. The same engine is also used in the new Aveo and in some models of Suzuki. Oh, and FWIW I think worldwide the OHC 2.0 engine may have been produced for as many years, and in greater numbers, than the smallblock Chevy.
Nari, no matter how much work you do to it, it is still a Daewoo. You've got to either have balls, or be a bit sick in the head, or both, to even want to modify one here in the US. You have to know before you ever dream of owning one that there are entire towns of people who will look at a car like that and say, "But why?? It's a Daewoo!" It's the same with any make and model of vehicle out there. Daewoo has not won the respect it deserved, which is exactly the reason it's no longer sold here. Big deal. If you can't handle the comments you're going to become a very bitter old man.

i get people asking all the time why i mod an 80s cavalier. i just respond with "why not???"
Because you have one of the two sexiest 1st gen Js evar!
well, id say i did. this one is still pretty ugly. its still wearing the cavalier rs and 2.0l badges, and has the rs bumpers with the bumperettes
Nari-im gonna have to go with the you on this one, i sold my sunbird a while back and now have my beretta, but if people ever said "it was still a sunbird " (which they did) i would just laugh, cause they need to learn to appriciate the amount of customization, labor, knolodge and time that went into my car, sure it was still slow, but i liked it, sorry that my parents didnt buy me a mustang or camaro like most people who talk @!#$. (which reminds me, someone with a 2nd gen buy my body kit and old sunbird parts!)
and now my beretta for example, custom hood, z04 (z26-gtz) body kit conversion, full interior swap to a 94 z26, full custom turbo 3400. STILL A BERETTA? lol
total blackout- if you have a complete donor car, why even swap motors? but if you have the whole car then just swap it all, strip both cars down and should be pretty self explainatory.

yeah we have both complete cars. the daewoo was picked up for 200 bucks because it had a blown motor. the bird picked up for the same price it had a blown motor as well but its now getting fully rebuilt with new turbo and all. why do we want to do it? well because it is different and nobody else around my area had done anything like this thats why.
anywhoo were just going to take everything from the bird and put it into the daewoo and see how it goes

I would be interested in seeing you try to mix the two engines so you could have a dohc turbo.
Here is my Daewoo Lemans with the C20GET swap...and guess what, I am very proud driving it.
What year is that LeMans? It must be a rocket.
As far as the swap, if you have an electronically controlled trans in a Daewoo then the ecm from the C20GET will not control it. You could probably use 2 control modules. Keep the original one for the trans and use the GET part for the engine but the trans controller won't be very happy when it realizes it can't control the fuel like it should.
