Hello all,
i have to replace the ignition cylinder on my 94 cavalier. I have a Hayes book, but it doesn't discribe my car accurately. I have everything removed and I'm down to the 2-part zinc housing. Where do I go from here? Do I have to remove the lower housing case? I don't see how I'm going to remove the cylinder alone. How does one remove those bolts where the heads break off when torqued down? EZ-Out?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Mako
u gotta drill them out,i had to replace mine about a month ago,its a pain but they will come out.
Yeah they are put in with 1-time use screws that you have to drill out and put new ones in...
Thanks for the replies. My first plan of attack was to drill them out but I couldn't get a straight line with my drill. i decided to take a die grinder and grind a couple grooves into the heads and screwed them out with a screwdriver. By far the most difficult part of the job. That and the bill for the new lock cyllinder assembly!!!
Thanks,
Mako
can anyone elaborate on the process of how to do this?
