So I was downtown a few nights ago and my engine starting tapping like it was low on oil. I did not think much about it and was planning on checking the oil when I got home. Well the noise got louder so I pulled over and put a half quart of oil in (filled it up). That did not help! So I said screw it and drove it home. The tapping continued and during RPMs between idling and 2k there were also loud pops.
Today, I looked under the oil fill cap and noticed that one of the push rods was hitting the side of the hole down into the head. I then took off the value cover to find a rocker arm that was no longer on the value. It looks like the push rod guide broke and caused the rocker arm to twist.
So I already know I need to replace the push rod guide. But I was wondering about the value. There are little chips around the outside edge of the value, but the center seem find. Do I need to have the value replaced??
I can take pictures if that will help!

If you have chips off of the valve then yes, you need to replace it.
