What are the best off the shelf struts to use with Eibach springs? Just looking for opinions, I've tried KYB and Monroe and they don't hold up all that well. There are some pretty crappy roads here in NC as well, I'm sure that doesn't help.

kyb gr2's is the best we can get that will drop in. you can modify 3rd gen konis to drop into a 2nd gen strut housing, and for the rears you use saab 900 (or somrthing like that) shocks.

i've had no problems with my sensatracs so far, and im running canuck springs, granted they're a little softer then eibachs but i went with the sensatracs cause they were easier to get for a waaaay better price and still offer a lifetime warranty

on my third gen Z24 i run KYB GR2 with Skunk 2 Springs... looks and corners well.. rides/bounces like ass

im planning on swapping over to KYB AGX Ajustable struts and Tein Springs... (granted will be costly) ... i was hoping KYB made an AGX for my 93 VL... guess not...

KYB are the best direct fit.

Jux has Koni inserts, which aren't available anymore (nowhere, no how, not even from Koni). Like Sharkey said, you can modify 2nd gen housings to use 3rd gen inserts, and run Saab 900NG shocks if you want to get all adjustable dampers.

how easy would be to modify the housing to put third gen struts on....

i would love to move my KYB GR2 / Skunk 2 setup off my Z to my 93 VL when i get my KYB AGX / Tein setup on my Z ....

question though... i know the suspension is set up differently between third gen Zs and third gen non Zs ... (at least ordering parts... the front struts all have different part numbers)

on my 93 the strut looks to sit in a sleeve while on the Z... i have two splined bolts run through the bottom of it... however Chevy was on crack when they designed the Z's strut system... you HAVE to have a crows foot wrench and a metric allen key set to take the mount off... i dunno why they had to recess the nutt in as much as it is...
