What is the Difference between the Sunbird 2dr LE and GT? Other then Some Decal's?
I know I pay more of insurance for just have a GT like almost $100.00 more a year for the GT!
the le is a base model. it has the small swaybars, no ground effects package, non flip up headlights, and some other differences depending on the year.
the 2.0l turbo motor was an option in any model of sunbird. you could have a bare bones LE with the turbo motor as the only option. and the oposite is true, you could get a full load GT with a 2.0l tbi non turbo.
The LE was not the base model in '90. Mine has more options than I've seen on ANY Sunbird, and it's an LE.
the LE as a base model, the SE as your midrange, and the GT as the top of the line. as with any gm car, it could be optioned out as much as you wanted. it still however wouldnt be able to have the ground effects kit unless it was a gt (all convertables has trim on the rockers), or the fe3 suspention unless it was an SE or GT (an SE with fe3 suspention is rare).
I've owned an 88 GT tbi non turbo and an 89 GT turbo.
My 89 GT turbo costs a huge amount to register based on the initial sticker price of $16,000. You could buy a new Vette for only a couple of thousand more in '89.
The "trim" on the rockers of the convertible is actually two very strong pieces of metal used to strengthen the body like subframe connectors. The Z24 has ground effects covering this, but the 'Bird doesn't.

im actualy talking about a trim peice that clips onto the "subframe braces".

I second that. MY LE turbo vert had power everything before I gutted it. I even have tilt steering! I will NEVER get rid of that. ^_^
My insurance was rediculously high too when I first got it. It was high enough that as soon as I pulled the engine, I removed the tags and unninsured it.

Ahhh... gotcha. That would be the 1 1/2" wide piece which covers all the rivets which attach the brace to the car. Looks like Frankenstein built it without that piece.
