what is the cheapest way to get another 10-20 hp out of my 94 cavi
helps is you let us know what motor and trans you have.
do the basics, warm air intake, full exaust with high flow cat and a good muffler. may want to consider a bigger throttle body and underdrive pulley.
10-20 is hard to coax out of a 2.2l with just bolt ons. personaly id swap to a 3.1l or a 3400.
ok how can i get the most power from bolt ons i am on a buget because i am 18
how much are you looking at spending?

around $500 just to give me the edge on my friends focus
what motor is in the focus??? if its a 2.0l split port you may have a chance, but the 2.0l zetec is actualy got some decent power, and i think just boltons on a 2.2l isnt gonna do it.
dude just put a full exhaust on it header everything. a short ram intake . and put new wires and plugs on it . but get the 8. mil wires.

Well, I do have a newer motor, a Focus- lol- @!#$. I killed a modified one completely stock on an auto transm. But a motor swaps going to give you the most power. On a high mileage car, simple bolt ons- header, complete exhaust, intake, throttle body spacer, better sparks/wires, and honestly you may gain your 20 hp (a lot of it would be lost power from worn out parts that your replacing). But a motor swaps prob best. You can find the motor for around your budget.

The 2.2L is pretty weak in comparison to most engines of the same or slightly smaller bore these days, but there are some things you can do.
First, before you go out against this focus, clean your throttle body, make sure you're running clean oil, and see if any engine parts need replacing.
Second, how are your tires. Tires can be the single most important part of the car.
Now, if you have some space to put them for a while, take out any unnecessary seats. They can drop serious weight off of your car. You could also get really finicky about your PWR (Power:Weight ratio) and pull out the stereo and speakers, and remove any carpeting from the car, but I highly recommend keeping the carpet unless you can keep the car very clean.
Now you can "focus" remaining cash on bolt-ons. Warm air intake, exhaust, and maybe some suspension (decent shocks cost around $30-50 CAD, and only the front of your car has struts). Try not to put too much energy into gaining horsepower. To beat a newer car, you'll need to think outside the box a little. J-Body cars are great for being fast with less power.

he has got the 2.0l but i am gonna have to hold out on the performance while i fix my car. here is the story i was driving in a snow storm (snow mixed with rain) and i was headedup a hill in 4th when it started to spin and i let off the gas and tried to turn a lil and it kept going straight into a driveway out of a driveway into a metal pole mailbox into a ditch. luckly there was a passer by who had a jeep and a chain and he pulled me out. i thanked him he drove off and i poped my hood which is bent i bent the bumper support and broke the headlight and the bumber cover. i drove it home it still feels the way it did before and i have a parts car where i can get all the parts i need except i bent my rad support it is good for now but i am gonna need a new one does anyone now where or does anyone have one that is rust free to sell. thanks
^^^they are right about taking un-needed weight out of the car. it does make a big difference, accelleration, braking, cornering and gas mileage if you keep yer foot out of it
for 500 dollars: home-made intake, cat-back and my favorite:header but you won't get 20 hp out of that. potential 7-12
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

See? I keep telling these V6 guys to ditch the weight and go four cylinder!
-->Slow
Cut some air holes in to the factor air box. or look for a cheap 12-14.4V DC electric motor with a fan blade to run as a cheap electric turbo and direct it into the air box..
LOL.. And change the K and N air filter(or Cloned AirFilter)! Get good spark plug. Cut the cat. conver from the muffler and use a peice of test pipe. If You want to get Real fancy get a Real garrent T-35 or better turbo, intercooler, There are some other mod's with resistors and diodes but I wouldn't put to much trust or faith in those.
I know of some other really Cheap ways to do the Ram air..
Go to Home depot and get a some Flex able dry house and a venting for floor board's.. And Just Mount that like a Air ram air.
I was going to this to my brother 1990 Mustang 5L, 5 speed cobra. But He sold it shortly after he let his buddy drive it got a $500.00 fine plus a $500,00 drive offense. plus a Dangerous Driving offence..
He realize it could have been him!
But My Little 1988 Sunbird GT 2L turbo 5 speed did do that bad when I raced them.. It was doing good till about the 100 km/h that is when they start to pass me.. Both cars where stock no mod's done. I have also bet a few 5L that where auto's with a the air intake mod, the cat. conver and spark plugs. But the 5L's was runing the greatest. But I still WON!!!!
lol, not sure how that happened ^^
