i have a 1992-1993 cavy 2 door 5-speed but wit a 4 banger in it... i sold my camaro so i have money now and i wanna swap my engine out n make it a quick ****in car for $**T's n giggles jus to blow ppl away... wat kinda engines will fit into my cavy w/o much modafications i was think maybe a 3rd gen 2.2 4cyl??????? but without a dought turbod
Somebody on here is working on an Ecotec swap, for the money to horsepower ratio, cant beat a 3400 swap...
how much work does that involve...
a 3rd gen 2.2l is the same as a 2nd gen, no point in swapping it.
what you need is a 3400. basicly you would need everything from a 3.1l v6 car (tranny, axles, engine mount brackets, rad, hoses, wiring harness and computer) and a custom from motor mount bracket (avalible over the net, or weld your own up). you need to leangthen a couple wires on the v6 harness, and use a beretta 3100 throttle cable. this swap will give you 180hp, 200ft/lbs torque, itll run mid-high 14s and still get great fuel economy. the 3400 also responds well to nitrous and boost. 10lbs boost keeps the motor reliable and can give roughly 300hp.
sounds like a plan to me ill be shoppin for a 3.1l v6 car n just the 3400 engine..right i have 2100$ to but into performance
jus to clear things up in my head everyting u mentionied form a 3.1l will bolt right up to the 3.4l v6????????? also this swap is that bad nor extrmely hrad to do considering your goin from a 4cylinder to a v6 front wheel drive????????
a 2nd gen j-body had a v6 in it, so a 3.1l is a direct bolt in, no cutting or welding. a 3400 will bolt in with the use of an aftyermarket from motor mount bracket and a couple small wiring changes.
The 3.1 and 3.4 are the same bottom end. Just cylinders punched out.
Its not that hard to to. Remove the axles, unplug the wire harnesses at the firewall, unbolt the tranny and throttle cables and then undo the bolts on the mounts, and out she drops....installation is reverse of removal.
i just wanted to say thank you for your COMPLETE break down of this install. but i have one more question, i have a 91 2.2 auto i need a tranny now but not alot of money so i wanted to go ahead and swap the 125c for the 440 now ive read everywhere and they say it almost bolts up and of course no wiring. i also read that the shafts will fit but i need to know if they are too long? please respond when you can. thanks alot.
