Roots type superchargers (build plan inside!)
Saturday, June 09, 2007 12:35 PM
I'm looking for a roots type supercharger for a 2.8L. I know it would probably be cheaper to pack a 3.8L S/C in the engine bay, but that's not the point of my project. I want to learn as much as possible about the engine itself, and how to modify it. while I have my 2.8L pulled, and pack as much power into it as possible without spending too much money. Once I get our wedding over with, I'll have tons of money to play with, but I don't want to blow it all trying to build up a car that's almost 20 years old (I have five or six ideas for more project cars). I want a daily driver for the most part, but I don't want to be embarrassed to take it to the strip, either, so I figure supercharging is the easiest, cheapest route while maintaining the original engine. For those interested, here's the rest of the build as I've figured I want so far (any comments or suggestions welcome):

KYB shocks
Apex lowering kit
BF Goodrich g-Force sport (205/50/16) on Motegi Track_Lites
Sport bucket seat package (haven't decided on brand yet)
Warm air intake
Mesh grill made by me
OEM spoiler
New paint (Flat black metallic or metallic blue)
GPS navigation system
CD Player with new stereo
5 speed getrag trans

P.S. This isn't really a J, its a Beretta, but this is the best forum I've found for info on the 2.8/3.1L V6, and has a large number of people modifying them. Plus, there really aren't a whole lot of Beretta enthusiasts that do anything performance related with them.

Hi. Check with Allison Transmission Div., GMC (Indianapolis, IN). They were the manufacturers of the GMC Roots blowers. I've seen units small enuf to huff 2.8L's worth of displacement on their production lines - a few years back.....
Take care,
Moe
