I race a 1992 Cavalier on an oval track in the stock four cylinder class. I just got the car a little while ago and don't know much about it. It's a 2.2 tbi engine car... not the multi-port.
Does this car have a rev limiter? I was wondering how hard I can turn the motor without hurting it.
I had a 91 TBI 2.2L Cav and if memory serves me, the factory rev limiter was around 6k rpm, which the motor didn't produce any more power over about 5200 rpm so there was no point in revving it up that high.
You could do an MPFI swap that will wake up the motor and give you some good top end power. Not including the head work I was able to do that swap about 10 years ago for $150.
