Tach hookup
Saturday, July 11, 2009 9:42 PM
I got a 93 base model cavilier with the 2200. I want to hook up a tach but being the slightly lazy person i am i dont want to crawl under the car to get at the coil pack connectors. Is there any easy accessable point on the car to attach a tach without needing to get at that coil pack, the tach im useing will work with 1-12cyl so i shouldnt have to use a tach adapter.

Never mind i figured it out, i pulled the factory gauge cluster and followed the wire traces, and with an edjucated guess found the pinout on the gauge cluster to the tach, connected the green wire to that spot, and it worked right off the back with no need to set the tach for 2cyl, it works in 4cyl mode.

The 93 has a 2.2, not a 2200, they are different engines.

You didn't jack, you dragged up a 2 year old thread.....

You can't connect a tach to a coil pack. You could connect to the ICM, but the signal wire goes into the car to the ECM, and it is much easier to find inside the car in the harness.
