im pretty sure the two are interchangeable, but let me double check... im parting out my 93 and my buddy threw a rod in his 98 S10, he wants to buy my motor if it'll drop in his truck.
can anyone confirm this for me... thanks!
just one... ... i changed it from Speedline since i left the group and now started my own car club
anyway i read that prior... i just don't see where it gives me a definite yes or no

Yes, it will work, as long as you take everything with it. IE- the 93 head will bolt on, but the 93 lifter guide won't fit it. So, as long as you use the entire short block you'll be fine.
.
problem is 98 has a cam position sensor and electronic EGR if you were to put a 93 block in the the 98 truck then you wont have the cam position sensor and the EGR is on the head but you asked about block
it can be done depends on what exactly your trying to do you would be better off getting a 96/97 block as it wouldn't give you issue

i'm planning on junking my 93... my buddy with the S10 blew the block in his truck and wants to buy my block to replace it with before i junk the car... he wants to keep his 98 head.
so if it works, i'll sell him the motor for $250, he gets a block with 500 miles on it since the rebuild in 06... otherwise it'll see the junkyard... i'll never be able to finish the bodywork on my second gen, and it hasn't left the driveway in over 4 years.
no it wont work

Why did I read that as if you wanted to put the 98 into the 93?
