hey everyone i have a 2nd gen sunbird with the 2.0L mpfi and i was wondering if anyone has swapped out or changed camshafts for this engine and what makes the most HP and TQ?
the stock cam is really nice in the low end and mid range bu id like a little more umph above 4,500 RPM, and i don't want to have a cam custom ground.
any help would be great thanks.
not so sure there are any aftermarket cams available for the 2.0ne but i could be wrong, maybe over in Europe. i do know that the 92-94 engines has the same 189/189 deg. camshaft as the turbo engines and the 87-91 non turbo engines had a 179/192 duration cam.
maybe a gasket matching port and polish, cold air intake and cat back exhaust would be a good starting point, wonder how the 179/192 cam would perform in the multiport engine?
well i have a lot already done including everything you've suggested and more, its just my torque kinda trails off over 4500rpm my best 1/4 et was 14.32 @ 103, best 60ft was 2.1
Your best bet will probably be to get your stockers sent off and reground.
If your wanting to swap in the turbo engine, i have many things for that swap...need to get rid of it as i no longer have that car...PM me if your interested. I may still have my reground cam around here somewhere too. Ill look for it.
